We usually don’t like ourselves because our body abandoned us in our time of need

We are raised and taught that we need to do something constantly. This belief stems from modern consumer society. We surrender to it only if our body and feelings cannot influence our thoughts, decisions, and actions.

The disconnection in the body leads to reflection and altering how our consciousness works to increase its speed. The body is unable to follow because it is subordinate to the actual state of everything and is committed to the synchronization of life processes. Our consciousness has a small influence on how the body works since most of its vital processes are automated. However, we can use the little amount of influence the consciousness has to change some of the body’s functioning. This is especially important when adapting to changes in our environment and surroundings. A too-large inconsistency between the consciousness and the body will harm us in the long-term: it leads to inefficiency, injury, and illness.

There are several reasons for the state of disconnection of mind and body. The human’s upright posture raised his head above his body. The human brains are the most extraordinary and complex thing created by nature that we know of. The human ability to understand and think is fascinating and surprising. The achievements or important scientific inventions and discoveries we made lead us to connect our minds with God’s. This idea is already expressed in the Bible. Man was forbidden to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge so he would not become God. We know, however, man ate from this tree. In the development of civilization, the separation of mind and body began, but we can increasingly agree that the destruction of this balance is also a diversion of civilization.

Separation, reciprocity, polarity

Although man has the same basic body structure and function as other mammals, he is the only one that is balanced in an upright posture. The basis for it is the increased role and strength of the buttock muscles. However, the upright posture exposed his vulnerable parts of the body (abdomen, neck, and crotch). Exposed, he began to become more aware of his emotions and developed the ability to express them. At the same time, the front limbs took on a different meaning and purpose. If we observe a violinist, his hands seem to have a life of their own. Humans owe a highly developed function of touch to their hands, which are very important in the perception of reality and influences the mind’s development and functioning the most.

Luckily, we have become increasingly aware of how important the body is and that it isn’t an entity separated from our spirit and reason. There is an ancient Greek saying that goes: A healthy mind in a healthy body.

Simultaneously, there is the fact that thought and feeling do not always coincide, and mind and body do not go hand in hand. A person can think without moving the body, and the body can just as well perform unconscious movement. Are we sufficiently aware that our state of mind affects the body and the body’s state affects the mind? Understanding these two aspects of mind and body, their surface polarity and inner unity were brought to us by Reich with his concept that mind and body need both opposition and unity to function because they use the same energy source.

On the surface, the body and mind affect each other. The mind influences the body, while bodily impulses influence the operation of the mind. However, on a level deep below the membrane, this separation no longer exists. Instead, there is only a single organism that has a life energy collector at its core. This accumulates mainly in the organs of the abdominal cavity. The body responds to this energy by movement and action, while the mind creates thoughts, desires, and images that we may or may not be aware of. However, biological energy is generated by muscles through the conversion of the chemical energy of food and fluids in the presence of oxygen.

Chronic muscle contraction causes blockages and distortions in the flow of energy, leading to permanent changes in sensations and impulses from inside the membrane toward the body and mind’s surface. This blockade keeps dividing the body and mind and throws them off balance. We consciously understand and are convinced that the connection exists, but it does not work deep enough because of the blockade and therefore does not reach our basic unity. The blockade creates a division between the unity of personality and character, between the ego and persona. Not only does it separate the psyche from the soma, but it separates consciousness that is limited to the surface of the body. This way, one no longer perceives the child’s spontaneity in oneself, creating a gap between the present and the past.

Since the modern environment does not have a calming effect on our consciousness, it is necessary to actively work on regularly stopping and calming its functioning to bring feelings from the body into consciousness and connect into a more orderly and currently harmonized whole.

Synchronicity with reality is important for the correct usage of the priority principle, which is one of the most important ones that can make our life better in the long-term.

The priority principle and the three AEQ methods

  1. We must know the difference between what is necessary and what is important (the basic skill of a mature adult)
  2. We must solve the problems that are currently the most important.

– Steven Pressfield, The War of Art: Break Through the Block & Win Your Inner Creative Battles

For this principle to work, it is necessary to be consciously aware of the present, which, in today’s hyperstimulatory environment and permanent stress, makes it really difficult. That’s why we can sometimes forget about important things, or we procrastinate until they become urgent. The reason are being overburdened and the amount of choices we have to make daily.

If we deal with important things as urgent we,

– use up more energy,

– cannot use certain solutions anymore (haste squeezes us into a corner)

– cause ourselves additional stress, make our life more difficult and put even more difficult goals,

– we destroy our self-esteem and self-confidence

– increase the possibility of mistakes and unwanted results, which usually leads to depression

That’s why regular use of this principle has a very positive effect on us in the long-term.

In a few years, we can significantly improve it with three techniques that form the AEQ method. These are:

– The AEQ method, which allows us to understand the connections between body and mind, the influence of the past on the present through the subconscious and conscious intention, and the understanding of the mutual influence of body, subconscious, and consciousness,

– The AEQ exercises, which allow us to increase our ability to focus on the present, thus raising our skill to create conditions for a better future,

– AEQ breathing, which teaches us how to emotionally mature and properly respond when we find ourselves in an uncomfortable and painful situation created by a lie; it teaches us to tell the truth and to direct the reaction of the environment to it; AEQ breathing connects the body and mind to realize the power of this basic life process; the purpose of the breathing calming protocol is precisely to calm the mind, which greatly increases the harmony in the body.
