AEQ is a method that helps us feel ourselves more realistically through a higher awareness of the body so we can learn to fulfill our needs appropriately. It offers us the knowledge that we need to understand the unpleasantness that comes up when we start reconnecting with ourselves - it helps us be less afraid of our own truth which is kept in the body and the subconscious.

I am a teacher of AEQ method Level 5 and I work with clients with various movement and movement patterns issues daily. I am also the author of the book “Getting out of chronic pain with light movement”. Learning AEQ method and AEQ exercises will change your life in a tangible way – without needing to take any medications; it will create many positive changes in your life. You will learn how to retrain your brain and your body to lessen sensory-motor amnesia (SMA), to end pain and to change the restrictions of your movement.

Program goals:

1

AEQ online programs are meant for everyone who would like to fix their chronic tension, their inability to sense themselves and their lack of understanding of the reasons for the undesired states that they keep finding themselves in. The effect of sensory-motor amnesia (SMA) is very strong and can put us in despair even when we don’t want to or even if we don’t understand why is it happening to us.

The role of the teacher is dual: he needs to direct all the participants correctly and he needs to know how to interpret the meaning of physical experiences and verbal expressions of each individual when necessary.

The key for eliminating chronic pain is the understanding of what we feel and sense and that is what the AEQ approach is based on – to intertwine theory and practice through AEQ exercises. Another very important role of a teacher is to notice the participant’s attitude and his tolerance to stress during AEQ exercises and through his level of attention that he gives to the AEQ exercises. A teacher is there to observe the relationship that the ego has toward the body while performing the exercise.

I often see stubbornness, hatred, reluctance and tantrums that come from the subconscious and are completely unnecessary whilst doing the exercises – this is what creates the excessive stress that is caused by the AEQ exercise. This kind of relationship between the ego and the body is also the main reason for chronic pain and unrealistic feeling states that bring individuals into my office – their attention is too low and their amount of stress too high. I help them change their relationship and their attitude toward the exercise and toward themselves by leading them through the AEQ exercise and by an in-depth explanation of why does this kind of situation happen and the role that pain plays in it.

When doing the AEQ method you will not get results by pushing and forcing. The goal is to feel the execution and not the execution itself. As the founder and regular practitioner of AEQ method I know, feel and understand the effects of AEQ exercises very well – this is why I can help people get the most out of the AEQ method and AEQ exercises, through observation of participants and comprehension of the reasons for their execution and behavior.

Participants are not able to see themselves while they also have a very distorted view on the sensations that are coming out of their body, and that is why it often happens that they assume that they are in the right position but in reality, they are not. Only through proper warnings and conscious change of movement they can start feeling their genuine flow of sensation and stronger feelings throughout their whole body. When leading the program, I emphasize the purpose of every exercise and the results that the exercise can provide for them.

AEQ exercises differ from other forms of exercise and are meant to help the participants to relax and surrender their unrealistic ego to their body instead of building muscle mass and endurance to overcome themselves.

AEQ exercises, especially those for lessening stress, help you lessen your body’s rigidity. With that, you also change your attitude, your perception, understanding and self-respect which leads to better communication between your body and your mind. This also leads to lessening the conflict between body and mind – this conflict is the cause for pain, injuries, wear and diseases.

Advantages and special features of learning the AEQ method through the 30-day online program

Creating the need for learning AEQ method regularly

I developed the 30-day program to make it easier for my clients to learn the AEQ method and to lessen the most common obstacles that they encounter when trying to lessen their sensory-motor amnesia (SMA).

The program creates increased orderliness and regularity of learning because the teaching is scheduled every day at the same time and is guided live. This is how we create a disciplined routine that increases motivation for regular participation with a teacher of the AEQ method. A common problem for new students is to overcome the subconscious resistance when wanting to execute the exercise. They find many excuses – not having the time or the chance. Participating in the program creates the need that we are ready to listen, follow the instructions and do the exercise. Doing a regular routine and learning about the body for 30 days creates a positive habit for carrying out the exercises and stays anchored deep enough even after the program finishes.

AEQ guided live creates a very distinctive influence

The main condition that helps eliminate SMA is to increase the ability and lessen the inability of having your conscious awareness in the present because this is the place where the body and the subconscious reside. This is the only way you can connect your conscious awareness with them, being in the same dimension of time as them under the same rules of gravity. The teacher that teaches the client also needs to subject to these rules but this is not possible when the teaching is not given live. The connection between the physicality of the teacher and the physicality of the student is key for getting to know the method and for preventing the creation of fear or anger inside the conscious awareness of the client that can be strong enough to cut off the clients’ motivation to learn the AEQ method. When this happens the ego gets scared and runs away into another time or location which makes it impossible to lessen SMA. The awareness that the teacher is there, present with the participant, watching him and correcting his behavior makes all the difference – you are not able to achieve this effect through replay.

Learning the AEQ method demands an understanding that changes the workings of conscious awareness; AEQ exercises need to be done at the same time to achieve the desired physical changes; then, you need to connect both to change your subconscious and SMA. This wholistic process is the one that creates real and lasting change. This is only possible when our conscious awareness is in the same time frame as the body; to lessen the fear and the anger in the awareness AEQ teacher needs to be in the present as well.

Regular revision of the understanding of AEQ method and AEQ exercises

An important part of AEQ live trainings are the in-depth explanations of the principles of AEQ method and exercises, whenever the teacher estimates they are necessary. This is the part of the training where participants have the opportunity to ask questions and receives the answers they need which increases the overall understanding and the effect of the program. Q&A’s create additional insights and expand our awareness in regards to the feelings that we feel during the exercises and the feelings that we hear others people feel at the training. These insights show us and guide us toward the real reasons for our pain or issues with execution, and specific physical or mental reactions.

The influence of creativity and level of experience of an AEQ teacher on the execution of AEQ exercises

Leading the exercises in different ways, regularly, prevents the loss of conscious attention on the execution of the exercise. Increased creativity creates increased attention on how our body reacts to the exercise – this makes it easier for us to notice the undesired subconscious influence on the execution of the exercise. The more that we are able to notice it during the exercise the more we learn to notice it in the present moment which help us to gradually, consciously, change our subconscious reactions.

The 30-day AEQ programs have been designed in a way to create a deeper understanding of our sensory-motor processes through small steps – these are the processes that determine our movement, our behavior and our life. This knowledge is necessary for those who suffer the consequences of sensory-motor amnesia (SMA) because it increases their ability to direct enough needed attention into improving their interoception and pull more muscle sensations out of their subconscious into their conscious awareness. Changing the relationships inside the sensory-motor loop deeply affects and changes our way of thinking, responding and expressing because we begin to become more aware of our subconscious influence on our behavior which makes it possible for us to change or remove the patterns that don’t serve us anymore or even hurt us. AEQ program creates a safe space in which our conscious awareness has more courage to feel the realistic state in our body with which the need for sensory-motor amnesia (SMA) lessens – the need to cover up and hide our past.

Throughout the program the participants are in contact with an AEQ Level 5 teacher on a daily basis where they believe that they are getting the best possible guidance, leadership and teaching. This helps them feel and accept their SMA states and their excessive rigidity and effort that they feel during AEQ exercises. The transfer of insights that the exercises offer into their daily life and behavior is more wholistic and useful in this way. The everyday routine of doing the exercises at the same time additionally relaxes the overactivated sympathetic nervous system and lessens the average muscle tone.

Teaching AEQ exercises in the 30-day program is adapted to everyday learning and is therefore more thorough and detailed than teaching in individual sessions or one-day workshops because here I dedicate 5 hours per exercise. This is not possible through other approaches because the participants are not capable of being concentrated that long while taking in so much detailed information and impulses from their bodies and environment into their consciousness. The teachings are mostly directed into improving interoception which changes the ability of the participants to feel, sense and accept the suppressed feelings from their bodies which lessens chronic tension and contraction and increases spontaneity.

We need to deal with the fact that we have shoved our negative feelings and memories under the armor of chronic contraction which caused us to lose a part of our spontaneity. This means that the consequences of increased relaxedness during our spontaneity’s return will be painful and unpleasant at first. When we take care of these states and admit to ourselves that they are in us we can start to increase our inner connectedness with which we lessen the limitations of our interoception and proprioception.

For a clearer understanding of what is written above let me quote an insight that came through one of the participants in the program: With the help of AEQ method you really dive into the core of the problem while trying to understand it from the view of its function in my opinion. The fact that AEQ method is so very physical and concrete moved me the most. I mean, how can I turn a blind eye to such strong and clear physical reactions/non-reactions?

I am so deeply grateful for committing to the AEQ method.
I am more decisive and bold in my decisions. Instead of being scared and/or angry.
With you guidance, I was able to focus purely on your explanation.
As they say ‘’Happy wife, happy life.’’
With a better understanding of myself, which I deepened during the program, I better understand why certain things represent greater limitations for me than others.
I’m slowly letting go of my green light reflex.
I am looking forward to attend your next breathing program.
I am grateful to you, Aleš, for making these programs available and for helping us.
I have found that a 30-day AEQ workshop is the best way to learn AEQ exercises
I feel confidence and inner peace. I took a very brave step and quit my job. It makes me happy that I was able to make a new step forward in my life.
Even during the day, I often notice that I’m squeezing a muscle unnecessarily. Which means that my body awareness and attention are improving, the more I feel it and know what to do to relieve the tension.
I have a special, strong and respectful attitude towards your exercises.
Your program gave me access to new depths and new dimensions, I learned so many new things about myself and I thank you very much for it.
Now I already know that the subconscious mind does not like rapid changes and changes in itself. The point is not to give up at the first resistance.
Otherwise, I really admire you, how you figured it all out, connected it,… and I am grateful that life brought me to you.
I’ve grown closer with my partner, we are now more connected as a family, more love and support are felt.
I realized how ineffective, silenced, and shallow my breath was to take a step out of my self-doubt, stand up for myself and gain basic respect for my surroundings, especially my home environment.
When I wake up, I have a bigger desire to work than before I joined this program.
I sometimes have a feeling that my body began melting on the floor.
Your program gave me a lot. Your words constantly echo through my head. Especially the saying that if you hit a wall, it feels no pain, but you do.
The pain is washed away through tears that look so real but they are just emotions that we didn’t allow ourselves to feel in the past.
You are a true treasure trove of knowledge.
I would recommend the exercises to anyone suffering with chronic pain.
The subconscious and the automated responses stored in it can only be changed through behavior.
I look forward to a one-on-one meeting.

Through one’s awareness and receiving proper explanations one can go very deep into changing his patterns and habits. Aleš has a lot of knowledge and understands the connection between an individual’s situation and his somatic issues well. Highly recommended.

A high level of knowledge, an understandable and empathic leadership style, and a clear and logical explanation of conditions and situations are my first thought when asked about Mr. Aleš Ernst. The 30-day program of the AEQ method gave me a rich itinerary for every day from the first day of the exercises.

I decided to enroll in the 30-day program because I believed that this approach will help motivate me in performing AEQ exercises more regularly. When I performed them on my own, I spent most of my time just reading. And then, I tried to perform the exercise. When reading, I tried to memorize as much as possible, so that I can then perform the exercise without stopping, which distracted me from sensing my body.

I am glad that I was able to sign up for your program so quickly after individual therapy. I already learned a lot about myself there. I knew and felt some of the things, but always viewed them in a different light, and had trouble solving problems/finding patterns. For me, the program represented a daily routine, twice a day at the same hour. Because of it I felt more secure, calm and finally managed to accept that this is my time and mine alone.

Raising emotional maturity is not an easy thing; there is no room for pretense. Aleš led the program professionally and creatively, with many additional explanations, which enabled the participants to understand our states and the feelings we experienced during the program.
Sometimes the explanation was not pleasant to hear; it revealed a lot of inner pain, repressed traumas, fear, and other unpleasant feelings.

In short, a lot is happening. Everything from spasms, pimples, resistance, outbursts of anger, warm and cold waves of energy, awareness of the current state… to mention only the main sensations.

After doing your 30-day program my kyphosis disappeared. I got up in the morning, touched my neck because I felt something was different, and I could not believe that there was no bump on my neck, or at least it was so much smaller that it felt different. Have my muscles relaxed so much that they changed my bone structure or what exactly happened? Is this really possible, or am I dreaming? I also noticed that I now wake up every morning with a swollen body, especially my wrists, fingers, eyelids, under my eyes, and also my ankle and feet.

The 30-day program left a big impression on me. It’s a whole different feeling when a teacher guides your through the exercises. The program instills a routine in you, so that you may perform exercises by yourself later. I did researched plenty of methods, but something was still missing.

The efficiency is shown in lessening the usage of energy for the same amount of work and for making the work higher quality. During the program we are updating the body to the living conditions of the present moment by understanding our past. During the workshop I first increased, then lessened, and at the end eliminated a repetitive pain in my leg (ischiatic pain). I would recommend the 30-day program to anyone who wants to get to know the real reasons for why does the human body not function properly which then brings chronic inflammation and chronic pain long-term. It’s also good to be aware that we cannot achieve the desired changes quickly because that can only make it worse.

It made me feel so excited when I realized that I can intertwine the AEQ method with my career as a physiotherapist and I also learned a lot about myself as well. I had a thought that there is a long and challenging journey ahead of me. Then I did a 30-day AEQ Breathing program. The exercises that we were doing laying down felt pleasurable but the moment you said that we will be doing them standing up my legs became shaky and I also started to feel nervous. I felt at war within myself – why can I do the exercises with ease when laying down but feel blocked when standing up? When summer came, I wanted to pull away from everything. I remembered your question – why don’t I move to the same place that my partner lives?

My third week of attending the 30-day program was the hardest one yet. I felt fatigued throughout the whole week, sometimes more, sometimes less. I strongly felt my back leg muscles (in the same sense as muscle soreness). I slept well. I repeatedly observe how I wake up a bit tired in the morning, that I clench my teeth and have a tense back and neck. The tension is gentle, because once I become aware of it and relax my muscles, it really feels good.

I take your exercises very seriously. I take my time and am focused on what and how I will perform the move, even though I sometimes drift off the path, but I always manage to correct myself. I feel that certain movements have changed, compared to what they were like in the beginning. I felt a lot of anger these days, and my stomach has been incredibly bloated for a while now.

For the first few weeks of the program, I felt terribly cold and it felt awful to feel it – I needed hot showers afterwards to stabilize myself. Toward the end I gradually warmed up, I was even sweating through the standing exercises. It was a great experience because I never exercised standing up before – I probably didn’t trust my own feet enough to hold me and I was scared to stand firmly on them. Through the physical changes new insights came up about who I am, how much pressure I put on myself, how much guilt I carry inside me, and I could also see my environment more clearly – where and how do I allow to be abused and humiliated.

I joined the 30-day program of the AEQ method with the intention of eliminating or at least lessen the pain in my back, neck, knees and my feet, which I have cultivated in my life through various activities. Or so I thought. After the introductory session and the first two days of led exercises, I learned that the exercises of clinical somatics, which I was already familiar with, have been greatly upgraded into the AEQ method, which reaches deep into the roots of physical pain.

I’m writing this because I haven’t had any serious problems with my body. The only thing that was happening to me was pain in the buttocks, and even this was the result of an injury – slipping on muddy ground due to my dog’s movement. I had pain in my right buttock, although I have noticed more rigidity on the left side.

I haven’t been in contact for a while. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the exercises, advice and wisdom that you have shared with me. My life changed for the better, it is more beautiful and more peaceful. There has been no more talk about inheritance after setting boundaries to my parents though, nevertheless, I feel deep satisfaction from this experience because it made me see that I am capable of mature and responsible communication – this has been mission impossible with my father in the past.

During the AEQ breathing program, for the first time, I consciously felt my diaphragm, how shallow my breathing was, and mainly, due to the tightness of the abdomen, only with the upper part of the lungs. During the day, I noticed that I was constantly tightening my stomach and abnormally pulling it in (partly due to obesity and shame until the end of my teenage years).

The third week of the program brought a lot of changes in the way I feel things. For the first time ever, I clearly felt the blockade in my neck. Similar things are now happening in both sides of my torso. I can’t think of my neck as a whole in certain positions and I have trouble contracting it completely, even though it would make execution of an exercise easier.

The most obvious change was the clarity of my thoughts when I first sat down in front of my computer to begin working. They were ordered in a neat row. This surprised me, because I had this constant feeling for a whole year now, that I don’t know where to begin and was doing 5 things at a time and never finished them. I was postponing them, wrote post-it notes for the next day, and then the day after…

Thank you, I am very pleased. The structure going forward also makes a lot of sense. I wrote the exercises in advance according to the numbers of the days of the month and I do them whenever I have the time and space for it. They keep me grounded and I am very comfortable with the rational basis of knowledge that once came to me through yoga.

I have been dealing with hip pain for a while now. The results that I got back from traditional doctors have not shown anything special. They offered me painkillers but I rejected them because I knew this was not the right solution. The pain escalated at a workshop where two AEQ teachers were present. After talking to them, I decided to partake in the 30-day online AEQ program. The program helped me realize how much trauma I have stored in the area of my pelvis, hips and reproductive organs, my own and multigenerational.

I’ve been experiencing the 30-day breathing program very intensely. I really liked the way you were teaching and leading the breathing exercises and modules. The instructions were clear and the repetition was helpful. Throughout the program I was doing the exercises once per day when on my own. The program helped awaken the memories from my early childhood that had a strong impact on the communication I have with myself and others. I gained a new understanding through a new frame in regards to how I respond to positive and negative situations. Immediately after the end of the program I had a swollen throat and tonsils without any outer trigger. I was coughing out green mucus and it lasted for 10 days.

I read your book ‘’Lahkotno iz kroničnih bolečin’’ (Gently freeing yourself of chronic pain) during the summer, because I suffered from strong pain in my spine and was barely able to walk, especially when attempting to stand up. Going from lying on the bed to standing was nearly impossible. It took me a while to understand the exercises in your book, because all of them are described in great detail.

We connect our sensations with our consciousness, relax our body and connect it with our raw emotions and responses through the AEQ exercises. The body begins to change, your consciousness now plays a larger part, we better recognize when we’re functioning on subconscious (past) patterns, which gives us the knowledge to understand what needs to be done when we find ourselves in a similar situation in real life. Control over muscles and emotions is improved because our reaction is more realistic.

This program of yours is a great investment. It’s true that I’m taking it all in little by little, and every now and then a tear of sadness and pain, which has been accumulating in me for years, would come out. I feel that there will be a long way to improve, but I am trying and doing exercises more or less daily.
