ACTIVE LEARNING
During an individual session, you will learn the AEQ approach through personal contact with the author of the AEQ method, breathing, and relationships, Aleš Ernst. Through conversation and physical therapy, where you will have AEQ protocols performed on you, you will gradually eliminate sensory-motor amnesia. That way, you can increase your ability to consciously sense the actual state within your body and raise your emotional maturity and efficiency.

If you decide to start eliminating chronic pain using this path, the most efficient combination would be participating in an online program, which I perform live through Zoom meetings, and an individual session in the Center of the AEQ method in Brežice.
The condition for scheduling individual sessions is regularly participating in at least one of my 30-day online programs. This will prove to yourselves the seriousness and determination to walk the path towards change. The path is not an easy one, but it’s the only way to influence the burdening chronic conditions you suffer from.
This means that learning first takes place in my online programs. If there are areas in the programs that you cannot arrange yourself and would like individual treatment, you can make an appointment with me or one of my students. I determine this based on your experience and things you felt during the program(s).
Why is participating in the 30-day program necessary?
Such an approach allows for a gradual introduction and, at the same time, a better understanding of the principles necessary to reduce sensory-motor amnesia. Over 30 days, you will practice punctuality and orderliness, which are both necessary for successfully performing exercises. This is especially important for the optimal use of your everyday time and proper orientation to your inner essence.
Explanations and answers to your questions, which will come up when executing the program, will give you insight into the reasons behind your chronic pain. If this happens in the intimacy of your home, the healing becomes much more efficient.
What are the benefits of individual learning?
Individual learning allows the client to recognize and choose whether a certain reflex is currently required or appropriate or if it is an old pattern that is inappropriate and even harmful in the present. Individual sessions give the client a much stronger feeling of change. With this, they realize how powerful the mind’s influence is on their well-being and their ability to change seemingly unchangeable habits. This way, the client can feel and understand the causes and consequences of being in the current state.
They learn how to change their circumstances, thereby allowing themselves the possibility of a different result and a different feeling, even though they may have had a certain problem for many years. If the cause of the problem in their current circumstances is incorrect muscle tension, individual learning can quickly help them change it to the correct one. This is possible because they can perceive things more clearly and understandably that something they thought was normal is actually unnecessary and the reason for chronic conditions.
What can we learn during individiual sessions?
The client learns one or two AEQ exercises that recreate the newly acquired knowledge and control during individual learning. They then instil this knowledge with daily conscious repetition and development of movement complexity, ensuring a permanent change in the sensory-motor connection between body and mind. This way, they fortify new behaviour and movement patterns. This helps a person to find it increasingly harder to return to old habits and can also immediately feel if they may have activated an old pattern, giving them a conscious choice: to remain in it or to leave.
When is working on the fascia used?
The muscle itself doesn’t have memory or determination but is instead the perfect servant who attentively executes the brain's orders. The muscle doesn’t even differentiate if the orders are good or ‘’bad’’. The past greatly influences the condition of the muscles in the form of changed behaviour and altered movement patterns, which subconsciously and with fascia keep certain muscle groups in constant contraction.
What does individual learning include?
Individual learning can also include the teachers' work on fascia according to the AEQ method. They use special grips and an understanding of the flow of impulses, energy, and sensations to discover areas of the fascia that are compressed and dry. This procedure can also be very painful and takes place on bare skin.
This approach is used in more severe cases of sensory-motor amnesia, which are the result of severe behaviour changes due to emotional trauma. In these cases, fascia helps maintain certain types of behaviour, despite serious opposition to what a person truly wishes to express.Why do we learn AEQ exercises?
By performing AEQ exercises, we noticeably improve the connectedness of our mind, body, and ground, allowing us to raise our emotional maturity. This allows us to live a different present despite having the same past, helping us curate our future. All clients who come to us for an individual session are unhappy with their current state and are afraid of the future if something doesn’t change. Individual learning enables the Active learning of the AEQ method enables rational and body-coordinated behavior change and thus changes in actions that determine and enable change. All this increases the probability of achieving the desired.
With every visit, you will learn the appropriate AEQ exercise that you can perform at home. Every day 30-40 minute exercise and exploring movement will strengthen new discoveries made during active learning. This is the recipe for eliminating chronic pain and making sure that it doesn't return.What will an AEQ teacher teach you during an individual session?
Individual learning allows your consciousness to realize that the body is its ally and not an enemy if it approaches appropriately. It’ll also learn that they’ll both achieve more when working together, rather than apart.
The purpose of active learning is to stop all our special patterns of chronic muscle tension. First, you’ll become aware of them, and then the teacher will educate you on how to requalify your brain to change its orders. Thus, the tension in the painful muscles will be released, giving you control over their length and function once more.
You will become more competent in self-control, independent posture correction, movement, and responding to stress. During each session, we will focus on your specific condition, behaviour, history of muscle pain, and movement patterns.
Why is a conversation with an AEQ teacher necessary?
Learning behind with a conversation, during which the teacher will try to locate the strongest subconscious patterns. They are simultaneously discussing the AEQ protocol, which depends on the client’s current condition, the realizations they achieved during the previous session, and the blockades they detect when performing exercises at home.
How does an AEQ teacher guide you?
The teacher helps his clients by guiding them with his hands and controlling the correct movement execution. The movements are slow, and with the help of the teacher’s touch, the client increasingly feels how poorly he is aware of the body’s movements and mobility. Namely, the difference between the movement that a person performs and the movement that he wants to perform is the result of the influence of sensory-motor amnesia on the so-called sensory-motor feedback loop. The sense of incomplete control that the client feels, as well as the illogical twitching of the slowly relaxing tense muscles, alerts the conscious part of the brain to direct more attention to the body and movement and to acquire more sensory information. This way, they increase control, further improving their movement. The teacher’s touch facilitates and directs attention to the right places. His voice helps with the correct movement execution and thus redirects sensory-motor control to the right path.
We connect movement into a movement pattern, which replicates one or more somatic reflexes. The client learns how to feel, recreate, and then abandon the reflexes they no longer need. Their control over their movement increases, and they can now abandon subconscious movement patterns. This is especially important since movement defines behaviour. It is also because in childhood, it is necessary to adapt behaviour to the demands and expectations of the environment and to strongly block certain movements in order to achieve a different behaviour.
Important: The AEQ teacher is your guide and companion on this path, not your luggage carrier.
How many visits are recommended?
I’d recommend two to four visits after participating in at least one online program.
In very severe cases of muscle contraction that are connected to deep emotional trauma, 5 to 10 visits in a time frame of six to eight months are required. In these situations, it is first necessary to determine when participation in 30-day programs is appropriate and to agree on possible coordinated cooperation with a psychotherapist.
Warning: For conditions like scoliosis, choosing the appropriate learning method depends on the cause of the spine’s curvature and whether parents should be involved in the process. That is why an introductory live or online consultation is necessary. The same is true for fibromyalgia.
How to dress for an individual session?
Loose and comfortable clothing is recommended because active therapy includes bodily movement (jeans, business attire, and skirts are obviously not recommended).
The first session with a level 5 AEQ teacher includes:
- A detailed estimate of the state of your posture and stride,
- Explaining and pointing out the wrong movement patterns, conversations about the causes and consequences of movements and posture, and determining the possible suppressed emotional patterns that negatively influence your posture, movement, and well-being.
- Active work to eliminate irregular and establish correct movement patterns, the length of the work at the table depends on the time that needs to be invested in determining the main causes of the problems that we want to eliminate through active learning.
- Learning AEQ exercises which are meant to strengthen what you achieved during active sessions.
- Each session is tailored in a way that builds on the previous one.
Every next session with a level 5 AEQ teacher includes:
- An examination of changes in understanding and feeling achieved during the time between therapies.
- Actively learning the chosen AEQ protocol.
- Working on the fascia according to the AEQ method and analyzing the logic behind emotional responses to stronger sensations, which are part of the changes in the condition of the fascia.
- Explaining the appropriate use of the reality principle, the pleasure principle, and the flow of emotional expression.
- Examining previous AEQ exercises and learning new ones if required.
The current waiting time for individual sessions is two to three months from the start of the first program you sign up for. The dates adjust to the realizations and changes that occur during a program regarding understanding oneself and our environment. The main progress is achieved through regular participation in the programs. In individual meetings, we work on certain areas of your life in more detail. With active work on the table and AEQ fascia, we reduce sensory-motor amnesia (SMA) in the parts of the body where it is strongest. This way, we increase the progress of body awareness and the influence of the body on your consciousness and actions.

Learning the AEQ method online
Online learning is possible through FaceTime, Facebook video chat, or Zoom.
Online learning is appropriate in cases where active therapy or personal contact is not required to continue progressing in understanding the AEQ method or the relationship between the mind and body. That way, you can receive answers to questions and quell any doubts you might have throughout the regular implementation of AEQ exercises and changing character and movement patterns.
Often, the ambiguities aren’t that they would demand the length of a whole therapy (90 minutes), which is why long-distance learning is possible even in shorter intervals, allowing a more efficient use of your time.
Sessions via video connection are also suitable for clarifying and dispelling ambiguity regarding the correct execution of AEQ exercises. In this case, when scheduling an appointment, inform us that you would like to learn how to perform AEQ exercises correctly, and you will receive instructions regarding camera placement and setting up your surroundings for optimal exercise execution.
Conversation through a live feed is also appropriate as an examination/consultation before your first individual session while we discuss the most suitable approach to learning the AEQ method, as well as in more complex cases (scoliosis, severe cases of autoimmune diseases…).
