Change is usually what we want from others, is it not?
We don’t want to change ourselves, even though we expect everyone else to change, which would then change our lives. However, it is imperative that all the changes we have to make come from within. Change means letting go of feelings of separation, isolation, loneliness, anger, fear, and pain. We create a life in which we can also relax and enjoy life more and more often, where we know more and more that everything will turn out for the best. Can you think of change as internal tidying up? If you succeed little by little, eventually, everything will be sorted out. You don’t even have to do anything to start seeing results. You will feel better soon if you can change even a little bit.
On New Year’s Day, I listened to O.C. Smith, whose words gave me a lot to think about. He said: “It’s New Year’s Day, but you must be clear that the New Year’s Day will not change you. New Year’s Day does not mean that anything will change your life. The change will only happen when you are willing to encourage it within yourself.”
This is very true. On New Year’s Day, people make many decisions, but because they don’t encourage any inner change, these decisions never bear fruit. “I won’t smoke another cigarette” or something similar. The change is expressed in a negative sentence instead of a positive order to the subconscious mind and what it should do. In a situation like this, it’s best to say, “I have lost all desire for smoking, and I am free.” The external cannot come until we make the internal changes and are ready to make the mental effort to bring them about. Yet inner change is so incredibly easy because we only have to change our thoughts. What positive thing could you do for yourself this year that you didn’t do last year? Think about it a little. What would you like to give up this year, even though it kept you stuck last year? What do you want to change in your life? Are you ready to do it? When you are ready to make a change, you can reach for any information that is available to you that will benefit you. It’s amazing how quickly the universe comes to your rescue when you’re ready to change. It brings you what you need. It could be a book, an audio recording, a teacher, or even a friend whose casual remark suddenly has a deeper meaning. Sometimes things get worse before they get better, but that’s not a bad thing; it’s just a sign that the process has run its course. Old threads unravel, so let it go. Don’t panic and think that it won’t work.
Remain determined in your desires and the new convictions that you have sown.
