In the AEQ Method, emotional efficiency is a fundamental ability of an individual to recognize, understand, manage, and express their emotions in a way that supports personal development and the establishment of high-quality, lasting relationships. This ability cannot develop without the influence of patterns that begin forming in early childhood, closely connected to relationships between parents and the family environment. When these relationships are chronically unhealthy, it manifests in emotional instability, behavioral patterns, and self-perception issues. The suitability of family relationships is decisively influenced by the level of SMA, emotional maturity, and emotional efficiency of the parents. As I have explained in several Sunday articles, SMA and emotional maturity determine the appropriateness of the environment in which a child is conceived and raised.
The foundation of emotional efficiency starts forming in the first years of life, when the child establishes emotional relationships with the mother and father. Parents set the foundation on which the child unconsciously builds their inner world. If the parents are disconnected, if there is mistrust, overt or covert aggression between them, the child often becomes a victim of the parents’ lack of awareness or shifting responsibility for the family’s condition onto the child. The child may unconsciously feel guilt for their problems or the breakdown of their relationship, although they are not responsible. This can lead to feelings of rejection that leave deep emotional scars.
Rejection can be subtle but highly present. A mother who, due to unresolved trauma or personal frustration, consciously or unconsciously perceives the child as a burden, a problem, or an obstacle, cannot hide this message. Even if she tries to consciously offer love, her subconscious feeling of rejection triggers long-term feelings of inadequacy, distrust, and inability to connect in the child. The same applies to a father who, due to his own limitations, cannot form a safe relationship with his partner and child.
Dermaosmosis: A Core Concept of the AEQ Method
In the AEQ Method, we have developed and defined the process called dermaosmosis. It offers a unique explanation of how emotional states and behavioral patterns are transferred from the environment into the individual or vice versa, affecting them directly. The term “dermaosmosis” stems from the understanding of how the conscious mind, body, and subconscious perceive the environment and their response to it, guiding and transmitting emotional energy through the body’s membrane into the environment.
Dermaosmosis is the process of emotional and behavioral influences passing through the body’s boundaries—through the skin, movement, and breathing. This transmission occurs regardless of whether the environment is positive or negative. For example, a child growing up in a hostile environment where they feel rejection will subconsciously absorb these negative patterns through dermaosmosis and adapt accordingly. They will have to create behavioral adaptations, muscular tensions, and adjust their body structure and behavior to match the environment. Later in life, this often manifests as anxiety, low self-esteem, or even the inability to express certain emotions, leading to emotional inefficiency, which contributes to chronic conditions and problems. It affects body symmetry, communication, relationship dynamics, and chronic conditions within individuals, couples, or families.
On the other hand, excessive attention or unrealistic expectations from the environment can also be destructive. If a child is elevated to the role of the “family savior” or bearer of unattainable expectations, they often begin to experience these pressures as overwhelming due to dermaosmosis, frequently falling into perfectionism or fear of failure.
Children conceived for manipulative reasons—such as to save a relationship—carry heavy burdens. They often feel they were never truly wanted. This leads to inner conflict expressed as self-doubt, emotional numbness, or an inability to form healthy relationships. These patterns leave traces on both the emotional and physical levels.
In some cases, the child is elevated as a symbol of family success or prestige. These children are often under constant supervision, with their decisions continually analyzed and criticized. This creates the feeling that they must always please others or meet expectations, leading to emotional blockages, developmental delays, or even motor dysfunction.
Developing Emotional Efficiency with the AEQ Method Through the Online Program
Understanding dermaosmosis and the influence of emotional patterns on the body is crucial for developing emotional efficiency. With the help of AEQ exercises, breathing techniques, and conscious work on reducing SMA and increasing emotional maturity, individuals in the program learn how to enhance their emotional efficiency. They learn to recognize the influence of past events on current responses. They develop strategies to use negative emotions effectively and improve the connection between the conscious mind and the body. They recognize and consciously establish or restore healthy relationships. Through systematic work, they develop emotional stability. They understand the connection between breathing, movement, emotions, and the significance of effective use of the kinetic energy that emotions carry.
Understanding and applying this concept allows us to consciously limit unhealthy patterns rooted in the past and build a fuller, more aware, and emotionally balanced life despite past experiences and inherited tradition.
